Sandusky Street Antiques was the dream of our founders, David and Jeanne Kessler. Our antique shop is located in the center of the historic district of downtown Delaware, Ohio. We feature 2 floors of quality antiques in a historic building.
We pride ourselves in selling genuine antiques in a clean, inviting, well-lit setting. The building where we are located was built in 1869 and was originally a haberdashery. It then began its long history of being a five and dime store. McCrorys, McClellands and lastly Pilsners were located here. The building is a beautiful 3 story brick structure with arched windows. The third floor was originally a ballroom. Before it was turned into luxery lofts, it was the meeting place of the Knights of Pythius, which ceased meeting there in 1950. It is hard to imagine all the people who made the trip up the steep stairways to the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Sandusky Street Antiques was born in 2007 after Pilsner’s five and dime closed due to the owner’s retirement. The building was an ideal site for antiques and soon became a retirement project. Jeanne retired from teaching and David was also approaching semi-retirement from his consulting firm. They both felt that having their own business would be a fun thing to do in retirement and would allow them be more involved with the antiques they love. Their daughter-in-law, Kathy Kessler, has taken over as general manager. Please come and meet us and visit our shop, you are sure to have a good time.
